What is AD Code (Authorised Dealer Code)?

By the Import Export Advisor advisory teamLast updated

An AD Code (Authorised Dealer Code) is a code issued by a bank authorised to deal in foreign exchange, identifying the branch that will receive an exporter's payments. Exporters register it with Indian Customs on ICEGATE for the port they ship from, and Customs will not accept a shipping bill without it.

Why does Customs need the AD Code?

The AD Code links each shipping bill to the bank that receives the export payment, so the export can be tracked until the money is realised.

How is it registered?

Get the AD Code letter from your bank, then register it on ICEGATE with your IEC and a Class 3 DSC. See our AD Code service.
