What is Shipping bill?

By the Import Export Advisor advisory teamLast updated

A shipping bill is the export declaration filed with Indian Customs, usually by a customs broker on ICEGATE, describing the goods, value, exporter's IEC and AD Code, and port. It is also where the exporter declares claims for RoDTEP, RoSCTL and duty drawback. Customs issues a let export order on it before the goods can be loaded.

Why does the shipping bill matter for incentives?

If a claim is not declared on the shipping bill, it usually cannot be added later. Check the declarations with your broker before filing. See export incentives.

What must be in place to file one?

An active IEC and an AD Code registered for the port.
