What is Export Promotion Council (EPC)?

By the Import Export Advisor advisory teamLast updated

An Export Promotion Council (EPC) is a product-focused body, set up with government support, that registers exporters of that product group, issues their RCMC, and helps them with market information, trade fairs and policy representation. Examples include AEPC for apparel, EEPC India for engineering goods and CHEMEXCIL for chemicals.

How are Commodity Boards different?

Commodity Boards, such as the Spices Board, and bodies like APEDA perform a similar registration role for specific commodities, and their registration serves as the RCMC for those products.

How do you choose the right council?

Match it to your main export product's HS code. Choosing wrongly can mean re-registering later. We check this as part of RCMC registration.
